The Hawaiian Youth Leadership Program is funded and designed by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to provide Hawaiian youth with a broad understanding of issues in which Hawaiians are challenged with, and to be equipped with the necessary tools to resolve them. In addition to learning about the legislative process and policy development, the students will have an opportunity to learn and resolve issues through a broader venue of organizations. As they matriculate through the program the students will have an opportunity to learn about the different organizations and strategies in addressing the needs of Hawaiians and the Hawaiian community. The program components include participating in a Student Forum at the Native Hawaiian Education Association Convention, a two-week summer residential program, a series of planning sessions, and an internship.
